A Hamden classic. The ridgeline trail follows the profile of the "sleeping giant" and leads to a four-story stone observation tower at the summit of Mount Carmel. Great beginner-to-intermediate hike at 1.6 miles to the top via the Tower Path. The tower has open windows with views across the New Haven area and Long Island Sound. 32 miles of total trails in the park. Free entry, always busy on weekends, so go early.
